Fake FRSC Officer Arrested in Kano for Allegedly Stealing Motorcycles

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano State Sector Command, has arrested a man suspected of impersonating an FRSC official to steal motorcycles across the state.

The suspect, identified as Abdullahi Ali, a resident of Bela Village in Ungogo Local Government Area, was arrested on January 19, 2025, following complaints from members of the public about hoodlums posing as FRSC personnel to unlawfully arrest motorcycles during fake patrols.

In a statement issued by the Sector Public Education Officer (SPEO), CRC Abdullahi Labaran, the Corps said the arrest was carried out by operatives of its Intelligence Unit acting on credible information.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly forcefully seized motorcycles while claiming to be an FRSC officer, with some of the motorcycles suspected to have been stolen afterward.

“A fake driver’s licence was recovered from the suspect during the arrest, confirming the use of false identity to perpetrate the crime,” the statement said.
The FRSC disclosed that the suspect has been handed over to the Gwale Divisional Police Station for further investigation and prosecution.

The Corps emphasized that the suspect is not an FRSC staff member and urged residents to remain vigilant and report individuals impersonating law enforcement officers.

It also advised the public to verify the identity of officers before complying with enforcement actions, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property in collaboration with other security agencies.
